Web inventgeek.com

Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined the success that inventgeek.com has had. When I started this site it was to serve as a creative outlet for myself alone. But I quickly learned that there are many out there, fans and self publishing authors alike that would fall into the same category of geekiness, and that reinvention is not only my belief but has become my practice as well. We have had some amazing success as far as community coverage of all of our projects. Featured on several websites, radio columns, blogs, and now even magazines, if it wasn't for some of the larger sites embracing our projects we definitely wouldn't be as well known, nor have the ability or need to grow to new heights. As we are starting to change the gears of the site to more of a community focus and resource, we look forward to expanding and sharing the media coverage to others with similar passions and interests.

We are currently reformatting this section due to a lack of foresight when we originally designed it out. Never did we expect our projects to get such broad global response and recognition. Our latest articles have been featured in magazines, websites, and even TV all over the world. We will try to get this section up to date for our fans. Again we thank you our fans for your support and interest, we couldn’t ever be what we are now with out you.

Computer America Radio Show

After Defcon 2005, David Strom, the chief editor with Tom's Hardware was interviewed on Computer America, the longest running and largest nationally syndicated computer related radio show. In the latter half of the interview the shifted focus from the drama at Defcon to Inventgeek. The DJs loved the printer shredder project and kept bringing it up, much to David's mild frustration it would seem

Article for Tom's Hardware

So for a bit of a change I decided to write an article for Tom's Hardware. I let them have it at no cost, exclusively, for 30 days then I published it on InventGeek. Turns out, I am very glad that I did it that way because there editors had to trim the fat a little. We published it with all the fat to great acclaim and traffic.

Slashdot

If you ever wanted to see panic on the face of a geek, this was the best example of all time. I had just finished the first draft of the article at 4:30 in the morning in the dark on the couch. It was a horrible smattering of spelling and grammar mistakes. So I uploaded it to the site as a backup. The following day I got a call from a friend while I was at work. I had been Slashdotted! The same day apple made the announcement to move to the x86 platform. Man the spelling Nazis had a heyday. But I have to hand it to Intermedia.net 77,000 unique visitors in 8 hours and no downtime.
